Diving at the Grand Papagayo
The Gulf of Papagayo, located on the northwest Pacific coast
of Costa Rica, offers an array of marine life to experience. The plankton
rich waters are home to an immense diversity of aquatic life, as well
as plentiful reservoirs of oceanic flora and fauna. These waters are especially
known for large species, drawing in white-tip reef sharks, giant schools
of grunt, yellowtails, spotted eagle rays, turtles, stingrays, angel fish,
octopus, sea horses, starfish, frog fish, and many species of eels. In
addition, night diving provides the unique opportunity to see the illumination
of phosphorous and volcanic rock formations.
